What can I do, as a parent, to help my child be a better friend?

Answered by Jacque Grillo More Info , Director, Lone Mountain Children's Center

It is comforting to remember that the developmental processes are natural and, often, not a lot of adult intervention is required.  What is helpful is for you to be sensitive to your own child's personality, temperament, and stage of social development.  In this way you can provide her with the best opportunities to flourish and grow exactly where she is, and, when the time is right, to support her in the transition to the next level of friendship and social growth.
