Wise Words from Those Who've Been There
July 11, 2008
Sometimes our love of getaways really gets away from us, carrying us blithely into the land of "Why don't we just live here?!"
Whether or not you'd ever consider packing up and moving abroad, do add the wonderful Expat to your summer reading list. It's a sparkling collection of pool-read-length essays from women who moved afar, only to reflect on what it means to be home, or away, or longing for both.
The introduction by the editor, Christina Henry de Tessan, is especially insightful. From there, we found this quote:
"When we travel, we are craving a break from routine, so we seek out the different and exotic at every turn because we know that in a week or two, we will be back in our safe little worlds."
