Tuesday is Earth Day (and every day should be...)

We pride ourselves on doing, not fretting.  We like being part of the solution. 

Sure, we worry -- but when we worry, we try to remind ourselves to act.  Help.  Think it out.  Make a good thing happen. 

Parenting preschoolers is challenging.  Saving the Earth is challenging.  Luckily, we thrive on challenges.  But yikes!

It seems this is one of those times when you just need to get your hands dirty.  One of those times when the only way out is through.  (Yep, just like the refrain in We're Going on a Bear Hunt.) 

In honor of Earth Day -- which really should be every day -- here are some ideas for getting your hands dirty, both literally and figuratively:

Read your child Where Does the Garbage Go?  Educate both of you.  It's not pretty, but it's true.  Gulp.

Read 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do to Save the Earth.  And then start from the top.

Dance along with Whole World by Barefoot Books.  Preferably with bare feet on a grassy lawn with lots of little friends around.

Do what you can do.  Sow a seed, plant a tree, clean up a park, take a walk, sit outside and look up into the glorious, limitless sky.  Take it in.  Take care of it.  Teach your little ones to do the same.
