Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Pros - A nice caring staff. Children seem happy and engaged. Cons - A very weak, uninterested teacher's assistant in the 2s class. Hallways are messy and organized. 2s room is unimpressive, toys are tired, and the very unorganized. Rugs are dirty. Communication with parents is poor.
Parent #2
It is a very friendly, unpretentious, thoughtful, and very supportive school. All the teachers are impressive. We have never heard a parent express dissatisfaction.
School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
The goals of Barrow Street Nursery School are the positive growth of the whole children; the development of abilities, interests, attitudes and values that will continue to grow over a lifetime. The daily activities support these goals through a nurturing learning environment that fosters cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. The school philosophy is based on the Bank Street College Orientation. It is child centered to bring out each child’s interest and capabilities. The teachers and students explore their environment to gain more confidence to practice their emerging capabilities.

Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Parents' Comments

Please note: our child is in the 2s program. It consists of 2 very sweet young women, and one extremely lame young teacher who in shy, unengaging, lazy and looks uninterested and bored (has been seen playing in the sandbox alone). The 3s class might be more professional.

We never did the home visit. Heard they did them but they never approached us and we didn't pursue.
