Director's Comments

We promote open communication between parents and teachers. We have a back to school night that gives parents a chance to meet the entire staff as well as give both parents an opportunity to communicate and ask questions from their child's teachers. We have monthly newsletters, as well as a website and email that is updated regularly. We conduct two assessment a year for our 3-5 year olds and meet with parents if we have any concerns. In addition our infant and toddlers have a daily communication log that let them know specifics for each day.

Parents' Opinions
Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children: are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Overview

Director's Description of Approach Toward Discipline

Our goal is to provide a positive experience for all the children we serve. We try to redirect behavior that is causing a problem or endangering other children.

Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario

Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'

A teacher would kindly ask the children if they might all be interested in doing an activity that would include all three children, or help child B find another child with a similar interest to play with.
