Director's Comments
Question to director: Do you have any additional thoughts on what parents should consider when looking at your school? Is there any advice that you would like to provide to prospective parents?
I believe that the teachers and dedicated to the children's well-being and they provide a lovable and nurturing day for all the children. We try to teach the children independence so they can be successful in their future school years.
Parents' Comments

This is a wonderful little school. They keep well care of my daughter. She has been coming here since she was 2.5 years old. She is now turning 4. She loves her school and her teachers. They are respectful to her and keep me up to date on her progress and set backs. Its well cared for, clean and the teachers are wonderful!
Parent #2
I have had my 2 year old son in the school for 5 months and he has had a great experience there. Really good care and supervision as well as he is learning to count and his alphabet. Parking is the only drawback.
Parent #3
All of the classes and teachers were very well done with a lot of individual attention to special growth areas we identified for our boys.
In particular I really liked how the teacher ran the kindergardners. The program was structured and geared to meet the expectations of the MUSD school district. The program was flexible enough that any areas that the kids were really interested in could be fit into the curriculum to enhance their curiosity. Additionally, based on the kids energy level the formal classes could be, and often were, continued into the afternoon. Both my boys left Foothill with basic skills such as math and reading far in advance of MUSD expectations and at least 2 grade levels ahead of their peers.
An excellent learning environment that takes into consideration children's needs and wants, but parents expectations as well.
School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
We firmly believe that the first six years of a child's life are the richest and most important. Those are the years that decide what kind of a man or woman that child will become. Therefore, every child, during those years, should have the best training and the best kind of education. This education should help the child: (1) develop to the fullest his or her natural potentials; (2) become a full mature person; (3) and the sense of reality, concentration and independence, self-assurance, courage to face the problems of life and the wisdom to solve them to his own advantage. We believe in the dignity of every human being, and it is our conviction that even little children have to be treated with respect, love and understanding. Discipline is the foundation of the human character, therefore, there cannot be education without it. The child should learn to form a self-discipline which is the result of a mutual respect and understanding between parents and children, authority and subjects, teacher and pupil. GOALS: 1. Develop the prime elements of the child's character, particularly self-discipline 2. Develop the child's intellectual capacities by helping him or her gain the knowledge compatible to his or her age. 3. Surround the child with an orderly and joyful atmosphere to help him make sense of the outside world and build up a joyful and sensible order inside of himself. 4. Surround the child with understanding and love qualified by mutual respect and self-imposed discipline.

Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Individualized Teaching
Description of how teachers work with children who are
"behind," "excelling" or "different" from the majority of students
We individualize so that a child that needs extra help can get it and those that are ahead are not held back.

Director's Comments
Each teacher is constantly in contact with the parents through daily notices for the two and three year olds and the older children take home activities so that parents can see what kind of help they need and they can participate in their progress. Whenever necessary or requested parent-teacher conferences are scheduled. We try to help parents when parents request help.

Director's and Parents' Comments
Director's Comments
We tell parents to talk a lot to their children explaining that parents need to go to work and child needs to go to school because he/she are bit boys and girls. We tell parents to always kiss their child goodbye and not to linger too long because that makes separation more difficult. We also encourage parents to call us as many times as needed during the day to find out how their child is doing.

Overview
Director's Description of Approach Toward Discipline
We talk to the children and explain why something is unsafe or not courteous and after we know the child understands and continues to do it then we give time out for a few minutes depending on the age of the child.
Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
'It's ok to play with your other friend, but you don't have to tell your friend you don't want to play with him/her. We are all friends here.'
Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parents' Comments

2-3 year olds are biters, that is their weapon of choice when they get frustrated. The school does a good job in talking with them and explaining to the biter what is wrong and gives better options to express themselves. The victim also was spoken with. Having one child who was a biter and another the bitten I never felt like the situation was not dealty with quickly and appropriately.
Parent #2
Its not high end top of the line equipment, but its very well cared for and clean. The kids have alot of time to play in the jungle gym outside, ride bikes, play with the toys. Its a good safe environment.
