Director's Comments
Question to director: Do you have any additional thoughts on what parents should consider when looking at your school? Is there any advice that you would like to provide to prospective parents?
When visiting a daycare play close attention to the children. Are they happy/laughing/crying/clean/well behaved? Attempt to determine if the providers are there to earn a salary or do they seem to possess a true loving spirit for children.
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
I believe Bayridge family daycare is a great place to send a child. My daughter has been there since she has been 1 years old and now she is turning 4 . She loves going there, never gives me a complaint. All the caregivers are very affectionate with the children. They also teach them some schooling such as the alphabet, counting, and writing. My daughter was 2 when she learned the whole alphabet and now is beginning to write them.
Parent #2
Teachers were very nic, facility was very clean. Curiculum and structure was non existant. The children were walking around all day watching videos. The upstairs had computers but I never saw them work on them. My son was not happy despite the kindness of the teachers. I believe he was bored with the lack of toys and instruction.

are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Overview
Director's Description of Approach Toward Discipline
Utilizing the 'Time Out' method we separate the child from the incident and explain to him/her that their actions were inappropriate. The child stays in a quiet time for one minute for each year of age.
Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
We would guide the child and encourage all inclusive play. Also an attempt to empathize would be made.
