Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Extremely rich and nurturing environment. Teacher excellent at helping kids work through conflict with their words. Kids learn to be considerate and respectful. Lots of creativity in the classroom.
Parent #2
Burlingame Cooperative Preschools has exceeded all my expectations. The "learning through play" philosophy has put my kids on track to be successful in later academics. Head teacher Kris Moore is communicative and in touch with the children's needs. Being in a cooperative has enriched my lives with the many friendships my kids and my family have found.
Parent #3
Our daughter loves this school and our younger girl can't wait to go there next year. The teacher, parents, and kids are wonderful and it's a great place to be involved with.
Parent #4
This is a great preschool. My daughter is receiving wonderful preparation for kindergarten and also has a great time. The teacher is wonderful and the parents have established a friendly, energetic and well run coop.
School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
"We believe a child's preschool experience should be centered on three essential developmental building blocks:
language
social skills
self-help skills
These are skills that require time and attention to develop and will give young children the tools to adjust to future academic settings.

Typical Day-In-The-Life At This School
"9:00 — 10:20
Free play: Students choose between play in the block room, reading and games in the library or art projects in the art room. Parent helpers invite the children to participate in a directed art project, and monitor the art room.
10:20 — 10:50
Clean up and snack time: With guidance from the teacher and parent helpers, the children clean up all the toys and art work, wash hands and prepare the art room for snack time. One parent helper’s day is done at this point, while the other parent helper provides a healthy snack.
10:50 — 11:20
Group time: Head teacher Kris Moore leads students through songs, discussion of weekly topics and reads stories. The remaining parent helper puts artwork in the students’ totebags, cleans up art supplies and lightly cleans the school until dismissal.
11:20 — 11:50
Outdoor play: Swinging and sliding on our play structures, riding tricycles, climbing trees, blowing bubbles, building sandcastles, sidewalk chalk, hoola-hoops and laughter.
11:50 — noon
Show and tell: Today's child leader-of-the day presents a show-and-tell treasure.
12 noon Dismissal

Parent #1
My child's teacher is an excellent teacher. She is great at making sure each child is involved and learning. My daughter really looks forward to preschool and even my 2 yo can't wait to "go see her" when we pick her sister up. She always has great ideas for learning stations and encourages cooperation, listening and fun -ideal skills for kindergarten.

Head teacher has wealth of experience. Being in the classroom watching her approach teaches parents to become better parents.

Director's and Parents' Comments
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
There are weekly summer playdates so that families and children get to know one another informally before the start of each school year.
Parent #2
We have one to two opportunties in the summer for children to meet their new teacher. They can also come in and see the facility. Then we ease them into the new year by first attending with parents, then with only half the class, finally with full class. We have very few problems with separation anxiety after this process.
Drop-in Policy
- During school parents are welcomed as the school has an open door policy

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
The facility is perfect for learning through play. There is a well stocked art/activity room where kids can experiment and explore creative projects. A reading room helps children get excited about books and reading. The block room helps with manual dexterity, spatial awareness (and is pretty fun) and the circle room helps kids practice their ability to listen to others, participate in group activities and sets the stage for kindergarten success.
