Parents' Comments
Parent #1
This school is small and offers smaller class sizes for better attention toward each child. It is fully bi-lingual (Spanish/English) and they adhere to their language roles throughout their interactions with each child, regardless of the child's preference. This gives the children a much better understanding of each language and a more natural learning style for each. Unfortunately, they have never actually offered the before and after school care hours that they advertise as having available. The classrooms are clean, laid out efficiently, and the children have many choices for exploratory learning with the requisite Montessori equipment/tools/learning stations.

School Philosophy & Day in the Life

School Philosophy and Mission

"The MISD Children's House adheres to the philosophy and theory created by Maria Montessori through her observations and experimentations with children from all backgrounds. She created a method and scientifically designed educational tools that respond to the specific stages of development universal to all children. Using this method we are able to provide a safe and stimulating environment which, through discovery and exploration, allows children to develop lifetime social, physical, emotional, and spiritual attitudes that lay a solid foundation for a socially responsible adulthood. The end result of such an education is an independent, self-confident, child with a love of learning.

MISD has a wonderful yoga and piano instructor who leads yoga once a week with each classroom and offers after-school piano lessons at a good rate. Their infant/toddler classroom's English-speaking instructor, Holly, plays guitar and encourages the children to explore music and singing.

Parents' Comments

"open door policy" is for OBSERVATION only -- from outside of the classroom. We are not encouraged to enter the classroom during school hours, at all. My child does not have seperation issues, so I cannot adequately rate their policies and methodology. Also, I am unaware of their methods for transition to elementary and/or advising.
