School Philosophy and Mission

"The Scarsdale Congregational Church Nursery School is a non-sectarian, multi-ethnic pre-school serving two, three and four-year-olds. Our objectives are:

For the Child: To supplement home experiences with wider learning opportunities in a loving, secure environment and to provide a solid foundation for entry into elementary school.
For the Parent: To provide meaningful opportunities for involvement in your child's education and to promote a positive and happy relationship with your child.

Our curriculum is play-based and is focused on the "whole child". Our purpose is to:

Guide children to play together happily and constructively
Promote the development of a positive self-image
Instill a desire to learn and explore new horizons
Increase an awareness and appreciation of our environment
Improve coordination and motor skills
Encourage verbal expression
Teach children to listen to others and to follow directions
Create companionship and friendship with other children and adults

Application fee: $150.00

Admissions Process

Acceptance criteria: Children with one or both parents who are qualified members of the church shall have first preference to register beginning on the FIRST Wednesday in October. Children currently enrolled in the two and three-year-old programs will have the next preference to register beginning on the SECOND Wednesday in October. Children whose sibling attend or have attended the school will be able to register on the FOURTH Wednesday in October. Starting on the SECOND Wednesday in November members of the community will have the opportunity to enroll. A wait list is kept in the event all spots are filled. We reserve the right to adjust registration procedures if there is a need to balance the number of boys and girls in a given class
