Parents' Comments
Parent #1
My son attends ASLS and I have been extremely happy with the school. I am a former teacher of 10 years and would recommend this program to any friend.

Parent #2
This is an amazing school where the teachers are friends, they are approachable and very knowledgable. It is comfortable, clean and well organized. The director is in the hall each morning and the parents stick around to talk after drop-off and play on the play ground after pick-up.

Parent #3
Great teachers, great material being taught, wonderful parents. We love the way they care for our child and how fast she is learning.

Parent #4
Teachers have a good handle on the children in the classroom and conflicts have rarely arisen. Teachers and staff are experienced and truly bring out the best in the children.

Parent #5
Depending on the teacher...some teachers are there for a paycheck only with no communication between parents and teachers.

School Philosophy & Day in the Life

School Philosophy and Mission

"At Little Saints, we recognize that each child is a unique individual who requires nurturing and guidance to develop. The Little Saints program is designed to encourage the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of each child. Our approach is child-centered, with self-selection an important aspect of our activities. A variety of developmentally appropriate activities are available to encourage the process of learning in a "hands-on" environment."

-- Excerpted from school literature

Our goal is to provide opportunities for meaningful play that are based on the child's individual needs, interests and abilities which will build important foundations for future reading skills and other academic pursuits.

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
Being that our child is only 2 y.o. most activities are led by the teachers but they always allow, and encourage, individual approaches.

Parent #2
New music teacher is great. My children have been able to recognize all letters, count past 10 and are able to write nearly all the letters of the alphabet before they graduated from the program.

Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
Never have been approched by either teacher when a problem has arisen.... Teacher's interaction with parents seem to be uncaring and detached

Parent #2
Refers to child as "that's our ..." in a negative tone. Also, says, "We can't ask the children what is going on because they might lie" My child was actually lectured on the playground for having to go to the restroom at an inappropriate time...he then soiled himself. This was thankfully witnessed by a parent. I withdrew my child from this school immediately!

Separation

OVERALL RATING (4.1) Four Stars

Director's and Parents' Comments

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
Parents are welcome in the building but not really in the classroom which I understand it would interfere with the class...However, lots of parents stake out the playground unknowingly to the teachers to make sure their child is safe, since the teachers usually use this time to talk and don't really want to be bothered or even attempt to stop bullying that goes on at recess.

Parent #2
During the start of the school year, there are additional teachers in each of the younger classes to help with separation anxiety. The staff will also walk the halls and check on the children if you ask them to. Parents also put on some "special days" for the children, like Riding Toy Day, Rodeo Day, Petting Farm Day, and Water Day. The teachers also give up one Saturday a year so Dads can participate in a school day with their child.

Discipline

OVERALL RATING (4.1) Four Stars
Parents' Opinions
Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children: are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
I was pleased with the BUILDING NOT the people employed within it.

Parent #2
Little Saints is a wonderful program with proven results of the children that complete it in kindergarten.

Parent #3
We are very happy with the school.

Parent #4
I have been part of this program for nearly 6 years. I have made adjustments to ensure all my children can attend. The discipline issues were handles in the classroom and discussed privately when necessary. I have had the occasion where my child was not feeling well in class and the teachers just cradled them until I was able to get there. The teachers have even been able to let me know when they felt my child was not feeling all that great and they were nearly always correct!
