Parents' Comments
Parent #1
CCDC teachers are awesome! My son loves this school. Everyone there knows my sons name; not just his teachers.

Parent #2
Both of my children have attended this preschool and we could not be more pleased! They have a wonderful director and front office staff. Their teachers are incredible and more than prepared my pre-k 4 daugther for her private college-prep school she now attends.

Parent #3
They are always quick to point out every bump and bruise my little one gets during the day, and explain how she got it.

Parent #4
This school offers carline drop off for all ages and carline pickup for carpools (one or more families). CCDC also coordinates entry into the Coppell Christmas Parade. CCDC also provides services like notary, faxing, buy a lunch (in case you forgot), and shopping around Christmas time to help busy parents! This is great!!!

Parent #5
In addition, I believe that CCDC is one of the best schools (if not the best) in the area. They have a wide variety of activities for the children. I was totally surprised that at 2 years old they were beginning to teach them how to use a computer. They expose children to so many different experiences such as science, separate classes for physical education, chapel with stories, singing and dancing, science classes, etc. They also try to make things easier for the parents. In addition to the regular school day which is from 8:45 - 2:00, if on occasion you need child care later in the day, they can stay in the star care program. The Star Care program is an additional after school program lasting until 3:30 (I think) for only an additional $10 a day. Also, if ever needed for an emergency, they will allow your child to attend on days in addition to his regular classes days for a charge - $40 a day. CCDC is a little more expensive than other church based Mother's Day Out or Pre-School programs, but I do think it is worth it.

Parent #6
We have been extremely happy with CCDC in every area.

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
CCDC has teachers for different curriculum areas in addition to his regular classroom teachers and activities. He attends physical activity class, music class, chapel, science and is even starting to learn to use computers (at 2 years old).

Parent #2
Each of these skills in each area is introduced by the teacher. The children are then encouraged to use the information they have learned through teacher-led instruction in centers that rotate each week, according to the theme/letter of the week.

Parent #3
A lot of the above categories fell somewhere inbetween predominantly teacher led and free play with some structure.

Parent #4
I love that they 'change classrooms' several times a day and go to different activities. Most classes appear to be teacher led, but have free play aspects to them.

"behind," "excelling" or "different" from the majority of students

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
The lead teacher in my son's class is wonderful. He is in the 2 year old class so she provides age appropriate activities for them. She gets on the floor for circle time, reads books and sings interactive songs. The teacher's aid in his class is even more affectionate to my son. She is very loving and is even trying to teach him Spanish, even though it is not in their regular curriculum. I moved my child from a play pre-school last year to a more educational pre-school this year. It was more of a transition for me than for my son. I was used to him being coddled and 'loved on' every day. When he moved to a more educational school I had to change my expectations, however this school made the transition as easy as it could be. They put my son in a class where the teacher was more affectionate and touchy feely because I think they thought I needed it more than he did. I highly recommend CCDC!

Parent #2
There are many 'specials' at this school that set it apart from others. Music, Fun and Fitness, Computer Lab, and Spanish are available to all children 2 and older. Science is offered 3's once a month and to 4's once a week. Library is also offered to 4's once a week. Each 'specials' teacher is highly qualified for the class they teach.

Director's and Parents' Comments

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
Though there are not formal parent/teacher 'sit down' conferences scheduled, each teacher has a policy that if a parent has a question or issue regarding their child, they will make time to talk face-to-face with the parent at a scheduled time before or after school. A conference during drop off or pick-up is not encouraged so the teacher can have her full attention on the children. The parents are given phone numbers and e-mail addresses of each teacher and are encouraged to keep in contact with the teacher regarding their child.

Parent #2
The question about the preschool helping you to select an appropriate kindergarten or elementary school doesn't apply because that is totally determined by where you live.

Parent #3
I love that they have a drop off lane for morning drop offs. My daughter loves it so much, she claps when we drive up!! (And tells mommy 'byeee'!)

Parent #4
The teachers and staff at CCDC are great. This was our first experience with a preschool and the school made us feel welcome and treated my child as if he was their own.

OVERALL RATING (4.7) Four And Half Stars
Parents' Opinions
Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children: are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
During summer school before my son was in his current class, he was bitten by another child. This concerned me so I spoke with the teacher and administration about the issue. They assured me that they were taking care of the issue. The child who bit my son did not come back to school in the fall, although I think this was the parent choice, not the school. There have been no problems this year since he has been in his regular class. This incident is the only reason that I didn't check conflicts are handled extraordinarily well.

Parent #2
Parents provide snacks

Parent #3
Snacks are provided by the parents on a rotating basis, not by the school.

Parent #4
the air circulation in their building is different in various rooms. In the hotter months, some of the classrooms can get very warm. They are aware of this problem and continue to try to provide one consistent temp throughout the school.

The equipment, happways, etc...I only rated very good instead of excellent was due to the fact that the building and school are not brand new.
