Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Multi-lingual and bilingual education, strong academic program, structured yet diverse activities. Great international multi cultural environment.

Parent #2
great school.great progam. a few activities / potluck are done at the school to encourage parents communication.

Parent #3
Very strong parent community. Parents are very involved and offer to volunteer on many occasions throughout the year.
Academic program follows both the U.S. and the French standards. In the French system of education, preschool teachers and elementary teachers receive the same training, therefore, preschool teachers know how to best prepare preschoolers for Kindergarten and further.
French immersion program works very well, even with kids who don't speak any French at home. I know many kids who entered the preschool when they were 2 with absolutely no knowledge of French and are now in Kindergarten and can understand everything and speak French.

Approximately 75 - 80% of the course work is in the French language (depending on the grade) and follows the curriculum guidelines of the French Ministry of Education. The remaining portion is in English and is an accelerated program including English Language Arts, American Social Studies and in K - 5th, Science. Spanish is taught as a third language beginning in 5th grade/cm2. Further information on two-way dual language immersion programs is available in the Admissions Office. Along with a strong commitment to excellence in math, the sciences, linguistics, the arts, and sports, San Diego French American School prepares children for the important life skills so necessary for future leadership: independence, organization, discipline and responsibility.
