Parents' Comments
Parent #1
My daughter has been attending ECD's Encinitas Blvd. campus for 2 months in their toddler class and though she is still adjusting I feel like her teacher, the follow teachers and the staff all take a great interest in her becoming comfortable and happy.
Parent #2
This review is for Encinitas Country Day San Elijo Campus. Overall an awesome school and I would highly recommend it.
Parent #3
I do not recommend this school. I found the teachers to be unfriendly and cold, and the office staff was never friendly. It's an expensive school for an experience that was not so great.
Parent #4
Schools need to have good internal and external communication. This is absent at our present school.
School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
Our preschool and kindergarten programs offer a solid foundation for future learning by providing balanced educational activities offered in carefully prepared learning environments under the supervision of trained and experienced Montessori primary teachers.
Montessori prepared environments and credentialed staff come together to form the developmental and academic foundation of our school. Traditional exercises in the areas of practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, science, art and cultural subjects invite even the youngest child to be about the outer work that creates his own inner growth. Stimulating unit studies offer early exposure to geography, history, botany, zoology and physical science. The extensive vocabulary and open-ended work in these areas lay a foundation for future academic learning.

Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
I had a miserable experience at this school. We stayed for two months, had a conference with the teacher and then pulled our child out. My child was not encouraged to do the activites that were placed out. Because it is Montessori, the children were supposed to pick whatever they felt like doing, whether it was educational or not. The children were also encouraged to do 'one person work (work alone) and not with peers. This school is NOT for the child who enjoys interacting with others.
Parent #2
My child is in a preK class with two amazing and talented teachers. Both these women are very well educated and teach montessori education. One teacher has a MFA and has taught the students art history this year, awesome. The regular curriculum includes music, singing, spanish, yoga and gymnastics weekly. Do wish latin was available though.

The teacher that our child had was definitely NOT a warm and friendly communicator.
Parent #2
I am not sure about the avenues for handling separation as my son was extremely eager to attend preschool and didn't experience separation issues.

| Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Outside play area is not terribly big for the amount of children who are there.
Parent #2
The school is brand new it is very beautiful, bright with lots of sunlight, the class rooms are very clean the bathrooms are clean. The playground equipment is new and in very good shape, the only thing missing is some shaded area or umbrellas by the play structures.
Parent #3
The Encinitas Blvd. campus is older than the Manchester Ave. campus so the building/equipment are not new and shiny, but they are just as adequate.

Advice from Parents to Prospective Parents on Admissions
Parent #1
Met with the staff prior to registration, toured and was put on a waiting list.
Parent #2
Open enrollment starts in December.
Parent #3
Start looking early and visit/take tours often. Start in the summer, class schedule are usually more open and less structured...a good way to ease your child into school.
