School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
Encinitas Child Development Center offers an educational preschool program for children from 2 to 5 years old. Focusing on the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children we have provided ?centers? to allow children the opportunity to explore, to experience, and most important, to succeed. The children do not need to be toilet trained, but must be mentally and physically able participate in our program.
Encinitas Child Development Center provides a variety of developmentally appropriate activities because we believe that each child has unique interests, experiences, and abilities. The environment, schedule, and expectations for children's behavior and learning, encourages teachers to respect and value differences among children.

Typical Day-In-The-Life At This School
Encinitas Child Development Center's schedule starts at 8:30 a.m. The entire school meets for an interactive Circle Time to discuss the day's activities, weekly theme, and anything pertinent for the day. We also read stories, sing songs, and share.
Circle time provides an opportunity for children to develop a sense of belonging to a group. Social Skills are enhanced when children learn to share ideas and listen to the ideas of others. Activities are presented daily to provide children with opportunities to develop skills in the area of dramatic play, science, cooking, math, blocks, art, and language development.
Snack is served at 9 a.m., then we divide into our individual classes and start centers. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and from 12:00 pm until 12:45 pm, we play outside. Half-day children are picked up at 12:30pm., and we begin naptime with a small circle and a story. Quiet activities and/or outdoor play is available for children as they wake up from their nap. Afternoon snack is served at 3:30 p.m. Afternoon activities are less structured and provide children with different choices until 4:45 p.m.. when we have circle time again to review the days activities and wind down.
