School Philosophy & Day in the Life

School Philosophy and Mission

"Our goal at Barnes-Miller Child Development Center can best be described by our logo. Overall, our mission is to capture the whimsical joy of being a child! The children represent sports, the art of play. Each child is adorned with a large red heart, symbolizing the gateway in which love travels back and forth. The star symbol was incorporated to show how every child is a star. The physical symbol represents the math and science portion of their experience with us. The swirl is the Celtic symbol for \"eternal youth\". The field of stars becoming the children represents their bright future!

Circle Time: Morning circle is a time to talk about family, weekend activities, school issues, learning themes, calendar, weather observations, songs and stories. This is a valuable time for learning to be with a group, learning to listen and participate in discussions. Along with morning circle time, there are many story circle times throughout the day - in quiet gatherings after play, before lunch and nap.

Pre-K
A classroom day involves a mix of large and small group activities, indoor and outdoor play, along with teacher and child-directed interactions."
