Parents' Comments
Parent #1
It seemed very nice on the surface but their policies, philosophies and direction created a very bad environment for my children.
Parent #2
excellent program
Parent #3
No good acadamic program. No Social interaction.
Parent #4
no issues--very good school
Parent #5
The only strength of this school is their materials in the school and outwardly apprearance.
Parent #6
This is a family run school, which I really liked. I chose a Montessori school because of the emphasis on letting the student learn at their own pace with teacher encouragment. I also liked the attention placed on the child learning independence through cleaning up after themselves and getting their own snacks, etc. We have implemented many of these same principles at home with great success.
Parent #7
No weaknesses. And I do not say that lightly - I checked out about 10 schools before settling on this one and I knew it was right when I walked in - the owners of this school are very experienced and know what they are doing.
School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
The main objective of Marimont Montessori School Inc is to provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment which will help children develop within themselves the foundational habits, attitudes, skills and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning.
The specific goals for the children who attend the School are:
* To develop a positive attitude toward school and learning.
* To develop a sense of high self-esteem.
* To building habits of concentration for lifelong study skills.
* To develop and foster an abiding curiosity.
* To develop habits of initiative and persistence.
* To foster inner discipline and a sense of order.
* To develop sensory-motor skills in order to sharpen the ability to discriminate and judge.
* To develop socially-acceptable behavior.
* To acquire the basic skills necessary for a lifetime of learning
* To help develop each child's innate, ultimate potential through high self-expectations.
The structure of the curriculum is based on five developmental areas: Sensory and Perceptual, Physical and Motor, Self-help Skills, Language, and Social and Emotional. Dr. Montessori emphasized the need for a rich environment, and noted the speed at which children can develop: "If our own adult ability were to be compared with the child's, we would need sixty years of hard work to do what he or she does in three."

Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
All of the teachers at Marimont are exceptionally calm, consistent, kind, encouraging, intelligent, and focused on the children. The environment there is orderly, calm, sunny and very pleasant - it is a lovely place for a child to blossom.
Parent #2
This school is nothing but a daycare. They do exhibit montessori materials, but the children cannot pick up what they want to do.Everything is completely "controlled' here.My son who was so bright has lost all enthusiasm in learning after going to this school.they do not teach according to the needs of the children.they are very biased. This school has caused a lot of the mental frustration for my son,who is gifted(doesn't seem to be after attending this school).Social communication is almost zero. Most of the time, the chidren are left for themselves and the teachers will be chatting in one corner.Teachers want it easy,so they call it behaviour control to suppress the children.
Parent #3
Excellent trained staff

Director's and Parents' Comments
Director's Comments
If children are having difficulty with separation, they can move to an abbreviated schedule to help them ease into the new setting.
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
On the first question: we came in late in the year, so I am not sure if they had a parent meeting.
Parent #2
Doesn't share any information related to our children.Extremely worst place I have ever come across about handling the separation.Unless if you want your child to have psychologicl problems, please don't even consider this school, even for free!
Parent #3
Communication directly with my children's teachers was discouraged, particularly if there were any concerns. The teachers all say the same thing if you ask a question... Talk to the Director.

| Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Overview
Director's Description of Approach Toward Discipline
As long as they make right classes they are invited to participate in the group. If they make wrong choices, the teacher will address them with the child. Time-outs are used occasionally. Extreme cases are handled with a parent conference.
Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
One of the things I loved about this school is that only nutritious food is allowed. If you send junk food, they will not allow the child to eat it, instead giving them healthy alternatives. We are trying to teach our children healthy eating habits and appreciate the school doing the same.
Parent #2
The classroom stinks so much that had to give bath to my son immediately after coming from school, put all his clothes to wash everyday!About nutricious snack,it is there to make an impression! It is not cleaned. There is absolutely no pilicy of washing hands when needed.
Parent #3
too many mosquitos outside--big issue
Parent #4
Too much discipline.School stinks when you enter.

Advice from Parents to Prospective Parents on Admissions
Parent #1
No. They do a 'guest' day where my son played and the teacher assessed if his personality seemed to fit the school's methodology.
