Quality of Teaching
Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Individualized Teaching
Description of how teachers work with children who are
"behind," "excelling" or "different" from the majority of students
We use a mulit-age appraoch in all classrooms Preschool classrooms have a mix of 3 1/2 to 5 year olds instead of just one age group per classroom. We hire teachers who can teach and are comfortable teaching different levels at one time. This is a mentor approach for older children to mentor younger children. Children learn better from peers.

Savvy Source's Comments
We have Parent/Teacher conferences twice a year. Teacher discusses the child's goals reached in the past 6 months and sets goals for next 6 months. We have a Curriculm night which parents attend to see milestons child has reached. The parents see art projects, pictures of children doing activities, writing samples, etc. Director sends emails to parents to nofify them of events or other annoucements.
We talk about the chld's mielstones and goals reached but do not make recommendations for Kindergarten. Our school as a Kindergarten Readiness Program in the summer to get children ready for kindergarten. In includes things such as (reducing nap time) teaching children social graces (ask to go to bathroom), carrying trays with food, etc.

Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
Teacher would embrace the opportunity to talk about everyone being friends, everyone playing together and somedays you may want to play with someone else. Also, redirect child B to play with someone else or teacher will iteract with child B is someway.
