Home School Connection

Director's Comments

We provide open houses, quartly parent-teacher conferences. Parents are encouraged to reveiw their childrens lessons daily. Teachers and direcot are available every day for questions. A monthly newsletterand calendar goes out to the families. Our web page also holds the same information for on-line look-ups. We do a great deal of community servies through out the year. We believe as educators we should not only teach academics but social awareness too. We do food-drives, shoe drives and we adopt families during the holidays.

Separation

Beginning of the year separation is handled through:
- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
- Small group sessions
- Extra staff dedicated to handle separation

We look at each case indiviually. Our goal is to set up your child for success. So we will take your childs needs on a individual basis and set up an enviroment that will suit them.

Discipline, Health and Safety

Overview

Director's Description of Approach Toward Discipline

Rules are set out from the begining. All children are aware of what the teacher excepts from them. Safety of all is very important. Manners and kindness are another area of focus. In cases of misbehavior the child is redirected up to three times. If the behavior continues a time out maybe required.

Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario

Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'

Good communication and awareness of the safety and kindeness of others is most important in our school.

Food Allergies

- We do not allow certain foods in the classroom

- We keep special snacks for allergic children

Medications

- We keep their medication on hand at all times

- We call parents when the child needs medication
