Director's Comments
Question to director: Do you have any additional thoughts on what parents should consider when looking at your school? Is there any advice that you would like to provide to prospective parents?
Since 1965 our Ohio Department of Education State Chartered School has cared for and educated thousands of children from the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas. From 6:00am to 6:45pm, children ages 6 weeks through school-age attend our year-round Child Development Programs in our 11,000 sq. foot facility located on 7 acres of age-appropriate, developmentally designed play and environmental learning centers.

Without question, the strength of this facility is its acreage. It has a lot of land, is a certified wildlife habitat, has multiple playgrounds grouped by age, etc.
The weaknesses are that there seems to be a need for education in disciplining children, a lack of structure (children are too much in charge), and the infant room is lacking the 'educational' and low ratio components found in other daycares. They had over 20 filled cribs wall-to-wall in a room, no darkened area for sleeping children, if there weren't enough bouncers then kids are left in the cribs, they never go out in strollers, and many of the providers weren't up on baby development (e.g. black & white). The strength is that, whether or not I liked all the personalities in the infant room, I would absolutely trust all of the people I know in that room with my child. The down side is that I recently discovered by accident (via initials on the report home sheet) that someone from another room was also taking care of my child.

Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Many of the teachers are extraordinarily kind, seem to like what they do, enjoy the children and have been with the facility for quite some time. There are a select few exceptions to this.
It may be wise to inquire on continuing education opportunities (classes, articles, handouts) that the day care provides to staff as I suspect some updating may be needed.

For conflicts, I can only speak to what I have seen in other rooms when picking up my own child. This facility does change people around rooms (which is not all bad). Some of the people do a good job; however, there are quite specific people who desperately need training in properly disciplining a child. I've been appalled at tones and verbal discipline by certain people in the toddler rooms.
