Director's Comments
Question to director: Do you have any additional thoughts on what parents should consider when looking at your school? Is there any advice that you would like to provide to prospective parents?
Creme de la Creme was founded in 1982 and our newly built Romeoville location opened in June of 2008. 90% of our teachers have been here since we have opened in June. We will be starting our first Kindergarten program in the fall of 2009!
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
In this case you do NOT get what you pay for. My daughter does not receive the setting, care and services at the romeoville Creme location that other nearby Creme locations give. The building is beautiful, the staff is friendly the brochure and philosophy are excellent but at THIS location, you don't receive nearly what you are promised or pay for. The water park is still closed. My daughter was there for 3 months and the staff continues to come and go like your much cheaper/run of the mill daycare centers. They will give you the tour of the wonderful music room, computer lab, story room, etc. but your child will never see experience any of it. Example: The music room is replaced with teachers singing songs in the classroom with a boom box. Other Creme locations have a music teacher and teaches in the music room.

My family and I searched and tried many early education facilities and no school even compared to Creme de la Creme.
School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
The Creme program evolved from the best of the best in early childhood learning science and not from one specific theory. It is designed to foster the development of the total-child--taking into considerstion intellectual, emotional, social and physical aspects of learning. By learning how to learn on many levels, children build self-esteem and confidence and are better prepared for their school years, and a lifetime of learning.
Typical Day-In-The-Life At This School
At Creme, we organize your child's day based on a child's attention span. Our research has shown that children learn best when they are stimulated in half-hour rotations and have new learning experiences. That's why we balance learning, fun, rest, and inside and outside physical activities to keep the interest and excitement for learning at a high level. A Creme trained Teacher is with your child as he or she travels from class to class. The teacher monitors your child's pace, and optimizes learning experiences by creating an invigorating day full of promise.

Director's Comments
Children's attention spans are short. They need a constant exchange between passive and active activities. At Creme, children move between theme-based classrooms that work in consort with their ability to maintain attention. Brain development research findings indicate that the brain is more receptive to information and pays closer attention to information when things are new and different. When the brain grows accustomed to a particular activity, or space, it has a tendency to tune it out. It blocks learning. According to Dr. Gold Scheible, Director of Brain Research Institute at UCLA, unfamiliar activites are the brain's best friend. Researchers believe that children placed in novel and stimulating environments, but not over-stimulating, are more focused and more likely to process the information they are learning. Our theme-based classrooms are designed to encourage learning.

Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Individualized Teaching
Description of how teachers work with children who are
"behind," "excelling" or "different" from the majority of students
Our curriculum supports emergent reading, math, science, social studies and character building skills. Enrichment classes in creative movement, art, music, second language and computer enhances these skills by intergrating them into meaningful and real life experiences. Through focused on skills, our curriculum addresses the needs of the total child and his or her physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.

Director's Comments
At Creme, our team provides your child with learning development, warmth, safety, healthy food, enchantment and positive guidance throughout the day. Your child will come home everyday with a detailed daily sheet that your child's primary teacher fills out. Your child's daily sheet will include everything from what your child ate, to all the activities that your child participated in through out the day. Creme also holds parent teacher conferences twice a year to give parents the opportunity to sit down and discuss the progress of their child. Here at Creme,we strongly believe that Parents and Teachers are team.

Overview
Director's Description of Approach Toward Discipline
Discipline is the on-going process of helping children to develop their controls so that they can manage their own behavior in socially approved/acceptable ways. Discipline techniques should always be based on respect for the child. Discipline techniques should be appropriate for the child's developmental level and should not be out of proportion to any particular inappropriate behavior. Appropriate discipline techniques include: Reinforcement for positive behaivor, Modeling, Redirection to a more acceptable behavior, Setting clear limits-which are stated in a positive way, Offer choices, Ignoring negative behavior while praising positive behavior, Including the child in the resolution of conflict.
