School Philosophy & Day in the Life

School Philosophy and Mission

Preschool Program Philosophy

Being cared for in a childcare center is an exciting experience for children. Attwood Child Development Center provides a safe, stable environment, as well as a flexible plan of activities that meets the developmental needs of children. Our center is staffed with responsible, creative adults who have a love for children. A designated quiet time is a part of the daily schedule. This enables the children to unwind and relax for a period of time before going on to the next set of activities. Children are given the choice of napping or resting quietly during this time. Our flexible plan of activities meets the needs of growing children.

Physical Development

By providing age-appropriate activities, children explore and develop their physical abilities.

Emotional Development

Gaining competence in activities and learning a wide variety of skills, which promote self-confidence, is crucial to a child??s emotional development. We encourage children to be aware of their emotions and to express their emotions in appropriate ways.

Creative Development

Attwood Child Development Center fosters creativity and sharpens problem-solving skills. Children are encouraged to express their own ideas and feelings through a wide variety of activities such as art, math, science projects, dramatics, music, etc.

Social Development

As children interact, they are learning to respect others, handle separation from parents, share staff attention, find pleasure in working as part of a group towards a common goal, and to be cooperative.

Language and Cognitive Development

Children are encouraged to increase their vocabulary as well as listen attentively to others. Attwood Child Development Center provides intellectual stimulation that will help prepare preschool children for their first year of school.

Before and After School Program
Philosophy

Attwood Child Care Center has created a relaxed, trusting atmosphere where children are encouraged to pursue their own interests, develop friendships, self-confidence, and respect for themselves and others.

Children are provided with a variety of developmental activities that include art, sports, games, drama, science, and reading.
