. toilet trained
enrollees in the abiding presence preschool program are children ages 2
˝ by july 1st (potty trained)
upon enrollment, you must submit the following:
1. medical form signed by child's physician yearly.

School Philosophy and Mission
"Abiding Presence Preschool welcomes people of all faiths and cultures,
recognizing that we are all God's children.
The Preschool Program at Abiding Presence is designed to help each
child develop a sense of personal identity and self worth. Objectives for
the preschool children are:
1. Feeling a sense of personal worth.
2. Sensing their unique personhood.
3. Sensing being loved and cared for.
4. Observing and testing the love and care given.
5. Increasing self-determination by the use of their abilities to
express self, gratitude and love."

Typical Day-In-The-Life At This School
"DAILY SCHEDULE FOR THREE-YEAR-OLD CLASS
9:00-9:40 / 12:30-1:10 - Free play in large room. Welcome each child. Move
among them and interact. Any individual work is done at this time.
Teachers will be working one-on-one with each child at this time.
9:35 / 1:05 - Teacher sings to tune of “London Bridge.” “Five more minutes
left to play, left to play, left to play. Five more minutes left to play, left to
play.”
9:40 / 1:10 - Teacher sings: “It's clean-up time, it's clean up time. Put your
toys away. Find a friend to help, find a friend to help. Put your toys
away.” Children clean up and are rewarded with stamps and songs.
9:45 / 1:15- Children sit on mats on learning carpet. Weather and calendar
are discussed. The children count to the current date then it is surprise
box time. The child gives clues and the others guess. After it is guessed,
child shows surprise. Box goes to next person's mailbox. The name game
is played. Color, shape or number of the week is discussed.
10:00 / 1:30- ACTIVITY RELATING TO THE THEME. It involves a
multitude of preliterate, premath, science, and social studies skills in a
play based manner! It is under the heading “circle time”in lesson plan
book. The aide is setting up snack in the small room at this time.
10:10 / 1:40 - BATHROOM AND STORY. Aide takes half the children to
the bathroom. Children must try to use the toilet and to wash their
hands. Teacher reads story to the remaining half. Then switch groups
and repeat. Children return to mats and are then called on individually to
line up at door to small room for snack.
10:25 / 1:55 - SNACK. Together we pray: “Thank you for the world so
sweet. Thank you for the food we eat. Thank you for the birds that sing.
Thank you God for everything.”
10:40 / 2:10 - ART/CENTERS. A small group of 2 to 4 children
(depending on difficulty of project and individual abilities) works with
the teacher on the art project. Remaining children choose from these
centers: Play dough, Multi media table, book corner, chalkboard, block
table puzzles/games, and small manipulative toys.
11:10 / 2:40 -
Five more minutes left to play” song is sung.
11:15 / 2:45 - Clean up.
11:20 / 2:50 - CIRCLE TIME 2. Music/finger plays/flannel board.
11:30/ 3:00 - GYM. This may be in the room, in the gym (Fellowship Hall), or
outside.
11:45 / 3:15 - Parents arrive. Children remain in large room until parent
comes for them. Parents wait in small room until each child is called to
go with his/her parent.
DAILY SCHEDULE FOR PreK class :
9:00 / 12:30 - ARRIVAL TIME. The teacher greets each child and parent.
Children participate in free play and work with teacher/assistant on a
skill.
9:50/ 1:20 – CIRCLE TIME - Children are picked for jobs. As a group, we
do calendar, weather, letters, numbers, months of year song and surprise
box. The teacher introduces the theme and letter for the week. The
teacher reads a story related to the theme.
10:15 / 1:45 – RESTROOM BREAK
10:30 / 2:00 - SNACK & INDEPENDENT READING. The teachers and
children eat the snack together. After discarding their cups and napkins,
the children choose a book and read independently until the rest of the
class is finished.
10:40/2:10 – CENTERS- Students choose from different activities set-up
at the tables. Students complete art project with the teacher/assistant
at this time.
11:15/2:45 – OUTSIDE/GYM- Students participate
11:30/3:00 – GAME/STORY/MUSIC"
