School Philosophy & Day in the Life

School Philosophy and Mission

The Boston Children's School, Incorporated, is a downtown Pre-School and Kindergarten established in 1965 and organized as a non-profit corporation. The Boston Children's School is located with the Charles River Park apartment complex near Mass General Hospital. The Boston Children's School comprises six spacious rooms at ground level along with an adjoining private playground. Additional classrooms are available at The Boston Children's School's Annex.

Our B.C.S. program is designed to promote the growth and development of children and, at the same time, teach children how to learn efficiently and experience the joy of learning. In order to achieve this goal B.C.S. provides an exceptionally broad range of opportunities for the development of skills in the cognitive-academic, social-emotional, artistic-creative and fine-gross motor areas. The B.C.S. program offers a blend of a traditional pre-school curriculum with teaching strategies and educational materials developed by the B.C.S. Administrator and Director. Children are exposed to a social and educational program encompassing activities such as cognitive skills, reading readiness and writing, numbers and math, science, sand and water play, art, music, large and small group games, puzzles, listening and expressive language and dramatic play.
