Parents' Comments
Parent #1
The school provides a very open environment for children to learn and play while still teaching them about cooperation, sharing, and other social necessities. The teachers are very gentle while still providing oversight over behavior and helping students to work things out among themselves. At younger ages (2-3) the school is really helpful mainly as a place to play and interact in an appropriate way, and in the older classes (4-5) they have some academic work and are starting to read.
Parent #2
The environment is warm and nurturing and run by creative and good people. The preschool program has 2 classes - one for 3
School Philosophy & Day in the Life
School Philosophy and Mission
It is our feeling that children's emotional growth and development is strengthened when they are exposed to a stimulating environment and given the opportunity to learn through play. Academic skills are gradually integrated into our program as the developing child begins to feel comfortable with who he is as an individual as well as in relationship to others.
From birth, children are active learners. They accumulate various experiences and integrate them into what becomes their own experiential understanding of themselves to the rest of the world. Each opportunity of hands-on understanding challenges them to formulate their own realizations and reinforces, not only each child's sense of autonomy, but a sense of achievement as well. Our program is designed to implement individual and group activities that enrich physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth. These include well-equipped outdoor areas as well as a wide variety of learning materials that playfully introduce science, literature, math and music. There is also creative art and dramatic play throughout the day.
Each child is unique and has very individual needs. Our staff seeks to provide a safe and nurturing environment. Children are empowered to use their words to express themselves about their joys and frustrations as well as interpersonal relationships. This is achieved through positive guidance and an emphasis on self-discipline.
Families are important. We encourage parent involvement and believe that working together as a team creates a consistent environment where children thrive at home as well as at school. Monthly meetings and scheduled events will allow parents to actively participate in their child's preschool experience.
Our school truly feels that the years spent at preschool enables children of every culture, race and ethnical background to build their blocks.

Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Our daughter's teacher is very loving toward the children. She maintains an even demeanor and her evaluations of my child were right on target.
Parent #2
The school has wonderful organic snacks and a wonderful outdoor organic garden that the children have helped to plant. Science is worked into the curriculum in fun ways. Currently, they have a bullfrog tadpole that all the kids get to help feed and they're learning about how it will become a frog and no longer breathe with gills but hop out onto land. My two year old came home showing me a collage he'd made of the world and telling me that the planet Earth is round and how it has dirt and leaves and animals and water... oh and Saturn has rings and the sun is hot. Just wonderful!
Parent #3
Our teacher has previously taught at the second grade level and is very aware of the tools that preschoolers need to start elementary school. We're very happy with her.

As this is a small school, I find it is easy to talk to the teacher and assistant whenever I need to. If I need more than a couple of minutes of her time, I schedule a meeting.
Parent #2
This is a wonderful community that is in its first year and the first newcomer to West Hollywood in more than a decade. There is already a waiting list. This is the only preschool I'm aware of that brings science into the play curriculum as well as letters and numbers. The head of school is wonderful with teaching manners and social activity through play and reinforcing self-confidence.
