Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"The educational philosophy of St. Matthew's Lutheran School is one of contrast. It is a philosophy of sin and grace. On the one hand, we view every child as one who is by nature a sinful person who is worthy by his deeds of eternal damnation. In fact, children are condemned to such punishment already at birth because their parents and all people are sinful. Because of this sinful nature, it is necessary to make every child aware of his sin in the light of God's Law and his need for the Savior.
On the other hand, we view every child as one who has been redeemed by the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ his Savior. Most important then, is the need to show children the wonderful blessings of love and forgiveness which are theirs through faith in Jesus.
St. Matthew's Lutheran School offers a full academic curriculum, and all subjects are taught in accordance with the full conviction that the Bible, as God's inspired and inerrant Word, is the infallible norm and guide and final authority for all matters that pertain to Christian doctrine, faith, and life. The Christcentered education offered by St. Matthew's Lutheran School is designed to establish a lasting foundation in the Christian faith and to guide the student in all present and future activities and relationships of life."
