Established in 1972, North Shore Children's Center ("NSCC") is a non-profit, non-denominational early childhood development center welcoming children of all races and religious backgrounds. Our mission is to provide a positive first school experience for each child through an engaging and enriching curriculum that emphasizes building self-esteem through exploration and discovery.
The curriculum at NSCC is designed to meet the early childhood program standards as outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our curriculum emphasizes learning through play and social interaction. During each day, children will be given ample time to freely choose various activities organized around centers. These activity centers offer age appropriate play options that will encourage socialization and skill development. These centers include floor play areas which focus on large motor development for younger children, small manipulative centers featuring puzzles and building materials, reading centers, housekeeping, science, math and writing centers for older children. All children will have the opportunity to work with various art materials and a â??whole groupâ?? activity time to experience songs, finger plays, books, poems, games and flannel board stories.
