General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

One component of using Creative Curriculum includes taking anadotal note. This along with other assessments tools within Creative Curriculum helps the teachers monitor their students progress and plan individual activities accordingly. An indiviual portfolio is also kept on each child to monitor the students progress. Conferences are held twice annually with parents to go over all assessment tools and to set goals for each student. Lesson plans are created with these goals in mind and are used during small group time for one on one interation with each student.

COA Early Education Center staff is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, family-friendly environment. We believe that children learn best when they are provided a thoughtfully planned environment and have opportunities to participate in meaningful activities. Teachers provide individual learning opportunities designed to promote your childâ??s individual social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. We value the family as the childâ??s primary caregiver and realize that establishing a collaborative relationship is beneficial to each childâ??s development.

Parents ar encourage to volunteer at any time in a variety of areas.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

Handling Separation: From the Director

We encourage families to bring their childen in prior to their scheduled start date for a visit. If needed they can stay with them for awhile. Parents are encouraged to call if they would like an update from their child's teacher. We encourage families to bring children on a consisitent schedule for children to get use to the program.
