Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Each child's needs are assessed on an individual basis. I provide and assessment tool that is completed 2 times per year that includes where the child is in their basic learning areas and then instruction is individualized per student.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

I believe that all preschools and childcare facilities should be set up for the sole purpose of enrichment of the child's learning.

We work off of a highly developed theme basis program. Your child has the benefit of 20 years of my teaching experience to teach them pre-kindergarten skills.

Jen's Glen is an in-home preschool yet it is set up like a larger school might be. I encourage you to come and see us and see the difference.

A Typical Day

8:45- 9:30 Meet/Greet and free choice center time

9:30-10:00 Circle time with calendar, weather, helping hands, music and a themed topic for the day.

10:00-10:15 Snack time

10:15-10:30 Art project

10:30-11:00 Table activities - writing pages, number exploration and working on writing their names

11:00-11:30 Outside time

11:30-11:45 Book and Story time

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

I have regular conversations with the parents as to what their child is learning and how they are progressing. Phone as well as in-person conferences are applicable.

Separation

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions
  • Parents in classroom early on
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

A child with separation anxiety can be difficult and I make sure that the parents are comfortable with either staying for short stays right at drop off to ease the child into transition as well as suggesting ways to reduce the child's anxiety prior to coming to the center. Each case is handled on a case by case situation on one to one basis.
