Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

We believe children learn best by doing. Teachers facilitate learning, by creating and providing an educational environment. Children absorb an amazing amount of information by being exposed to a rich and varied environment. We encourage a strong emphasis on creative art and language experiences, with a blend of organized and child-initiated activities that allow children to make their own choices and therefore take ownership of their successes. We also place a strong emphasis on using the community as a classroom. Teachers take children on walkabouts of our neighborhood as often as possible and incorporate those experiences into classroom projects. (from school website)
