Day in the Life

General School Mission

Fauntleroy Children's Center is a nationally accredited nonprofit center dedicated to serving the community and families of the greater West Seattle area by offering high quality childcare in an educational environment. Our skilled professional staff provides a secure, stable and diverse environment where children want to be. Our mission is to work in collaboration with the families we serve and the community to enrich each child's social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth.

Our primary goal is to provide a quality child care service to families which will permit parents/guardians to engage in work or other activities with the assurance that their children are in a safe environment which is conducive to their health, happiness and well being.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Family Involvement:

We are happy to have you join our family and look forward to sharing many years together. Please feel free to visit at any time. Your involvement is an integral part of our program. Parents/guardians are encouraged to visit the center and attend meetings and work days. Parent-teacher conferences will be arranged periodically during the year. Please feel free to call to arrange visits or additional conferences any time.

Each family will be required to give service hours to the program. It is expected that each family will give one to two hours a month of donated time. Participating on field trips, helping in the classroom, serving on the Advisory Board, working on our annual fund-raiser and donating goods or services are some of the ways to fulfill this requirement.

Family Involvement Policy

To keep our families' levels of involvement active and fresh, we have defined a level of family involvement and instituted an equitable method of evaluation.

Families are responsible for 1 hour per full-time child per month per parent/guardian. Parents of part-time children (3 days per week or less) are responsible for 30 minutes per child per month per parent.
Parents, NOT staff, are responsible for keeping track of their involvement and noting it on the family involvement charts posted in each room.
Involvement will be posted quarterly and follow the calendar school year, starting in September
There will be a one month grace period upon posting credit to appeal valuation/determination. After that period is up, the amount stands official
Involvement will not be carried from year to year; however, extra hours accumulated in the month of August will be applied the following year.
Families who do not complete required time by year end (August 31st) will be assessed a fee based on $15 per hour due (work or pay).
