Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Montessori

From the Director:

The core of Montessori education promotes adult guidance of the child's activities through a prepared environment. This allows the child to enjoy the gratification of "doing it myself", experiencing the pride of work that comes from within, which in turn stimulates an early, life-long love of learning and self initiative.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

At Medina Montessori there are many opportunities and resources available for parents to be active in their child's early learning experiences. Visits to the classroom are always fun for parents, children, and for these teachers. Parents routinely volunteer for special events, presentations, daily story reading, field trip participation, etc.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

We offer a two-observation procedure before enrolling a child in the school. Parents are strongly encouraged to make a separate appointment, before bringing their child for a visit. This first visit allows for observation of all the aspects of the school and the program. The second visit is a relaxed approach as the child and parent will become members of our class for about an hour or more.
