General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

Our learning programs are based on the age and individual development of each child. The programs we use provide a foundation for later successful academic achievement and give your child a basic foundation for math, language arts, science, various arts, and gross motor skills. The children participate in a wide variety of activities such as music, art science, dramatic play, secular and Bible stories as well as physical activities to aid in large muscle development. Our goal is to create a learning environment that is both fun and educational.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Children are precious to us and will receive tender loving care and instruction while in our care. Precious Child Care & Preschool is a Christian day care center operated under the direction of Christ the Rock Fellowship. We understand the importance of providing a clean, loving, and secure environment where children learn about God’s love and principles for living.

Our staff is of the highest quality and has a wealth of experience in working with young children. All of our teachers are required to have a minimum of ten hours of continuing education each year and their first aid and CPR cards. The teachers are highly trained and have a desire to see children grow emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually.

At PCCandP children enjoy a balance of indoor and outdoor free play, group activities and individual attention from staff. Interesting field trips are scheduled as part of our School Age Program to develop community awareness in each child. All of our activities and projects are designed to enhance your child’s growth and to provide a loving and nurturing environment.

At PCCandP we encourage children to learn as they play. We equip and furnish learning centers with up-to-date materials designed for young children. Our programs include math, art, music, dramatic play, and science, beginning reading skills, story time, and physical play to aid in large muscle development.

We want you to work with us as partners in the development of your child. Your involvement will enhance the experiences your child has and the progress he/she will make while attending PCCandP. This handbook will help answer many of the questions you might have about our center. Please feel free to talk with the director for further information regarding the care of your child.

A Typical Day

In order to ensure the children are comfortable and secure we maintain a regular daily schedule. Children who arrive before 8:00 AM will go to the opening room and are offered a nutritious breakfast. At 8:45 AM all children will go to their classroom and begin their daily activities.

Our curriculum starts at 9:00 am every day, and we feel it is very important that your child is part of that learning time. 10:00 am is the latest a child can be dropped off at PCCP. Anytime after 10:00 am the child has missed too much of the day’s activities to make a smooth transition into lunch time and nap.
10:00 drop in

Each classroom begins the day with Circle Time, which consists of songs, calendar activities, numbers, colors and letter recognition. Throughout the morning each class will also have snack, Neat Work Seat Work time, learning centers, art, music, cleanup time and outdoor play. Following lunch the children nap and then they wake up they have story time or a quiet activity. Then it’s snack, art, Circle Time and outdoor playtime, followed by learning centers. Their day closes with an afternoon activity before cleaning up and getting ready to go home.
