Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

Our approach is play based but, we also believe that a good start in preschool to learning the alphabet, letter sounding, numbers and math, writing, etc. makes a great start for further learning in kindergarten through teacher led instruction.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Every child is given individual attention and is encouraged at their own level and speed. They move ahead depending on their ability and maturation.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The goal of Diana's Daycare/Preschool is to provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for your child. The development of your child is important to me too,and I will work with you in your child's growth. We are an extension of your family. We provide physical, social, emotional and cognitive development through play, games, motor skills, teaching, and building relationships.

A Typical Day

Free supervised play, toileting, diapering, snacks, lunch, reading, music, science, activity time (creative art, preschool, cutting, games, etc.), naps, outside play, pick up, and closing

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

I usually communicate each day with the parent upon picking up their child. I let them know what we did, how child did for the day, any special things they need to know. I have an open communication policy with parents. They come to me with concerns even at their home. I give them my recommendations and they provide me with any info. they think I might need to help their child grow or progress in school.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

Handling Separation: From the Director

Parents are encouraged to leave pictures of the family with the child. We try to get the child in some sort of play with us or another child before parent leaves. Sometimes just gentle rocking in a chair is all it takes.
