Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Montessori

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We honor and respect every child and know the children have their individual strengths and challenges. The Montessori approach is individualized and instruction is designed to meet the needs of each child. The mixed age classroom develops an atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration and alleviates competition among the children. We celebrate diversity.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We understand that parents are their child primary teachers. The relationship between parents and the school staff is a partnership. Parents are always welcome to visit and/or to contact the teacher with questions or concerns. A parent handbook is given to each family when they enter the school. We communicate with parents through a monthly newsletters, and email reminders. We hold parent education classes 4-5 times a year, and offer a parent lending library. Parent-Teacher conferences are held twice a year.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

Our approach is individualized and designed to meet the goal of healthy separation. If we feel separation is causing undo anxiety we will work with the parent to create a plan. This may involve the parent coming into the classroom or waiting in our conference room where we are able to reach the parent if the child is find the separation too difficult.
