A Typical Day

"A Typical Day
Grove ABC offers numerous activities and experiences for the young child, but I shall endeavor to give you a birds-eye view of a day inside our doors.
After a nourishing breakfast, your child will begin his/her day with some lively exercise. We may put in the Mousercise tape and exercise along with the Disney characters or the teachers may design the exercises for the day. We feel that exercise is so important because it not only works those muscles but we get to practice our balance and our rhythm techniques. Following a cool down period, we move into our structured groups for learning skills.
The curriculum is comprehensive as well as collaborative so we may be found working by themes or by subject. For example, "The Circus" let's us learn about animals (types and names), animal homes (natural and man-made), animal and people safety, and likes and dislikes. Theme curriculum is done in four-week increments. Included in these lessons, you will find your child participating in coloring, cutting, pasting, painting, sorting, flannel board activities, etc.
Now it is time to let the little ones have a little free time. They may visit areas around the room for 15-20 minutes. Then it is time to go outside for play. This is while the room is being set up for lunch. Once they return, we have restroom break and clean-up time. Lunch is then served. After lunch is served story time begins which is followed by the quiet
ap time. Believe it or not, most of the day has passed us by and your little one is ready for the break. After quiet time we get up, restroom and prepare for afternoon activities. This can range from circle time, show and tell or what ever activity the teacher wants the class to do for that day. They may have a special project that needs to be finished or begun.
Soon our school-aged students will be arriving and they will be having their afternoon snack with their buddy. We try to match a preschooler with a school-aged child for a shared learning experience. After snack, the children are allowed free choice time in the room again and then it is outside. By this time, parents are beginning to pick their little ones up and their day at Grove ABC is ending. But that is okay. We will see you again tomorrow. Bright and early! "
