Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Edlin strives to create an environment that fosters academic and personal growth. Thestudents have the opportunity to partake in a diverse and advanced academic curriculumbased on the classic core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, and socialstudies and including competitive and noncompetitive athletics, performing and visualarts, foreign languages, and computer access and instruction. The program is anintellectually demanding one that prepares students for the increasingly competitive anddemanding further education that awaits them. The faculty encourages students toexpress themselves with confidence, clarity, and critical acumen. Anidealstudent-tofacultyratio enables teachers to employ a variety of teaching methods and stylesdesigned to help each student reach his or her potential.
Socially, the school seeks to provide a familial, nurturing environment that encouragesstudents to grow in self-esteem and values the dignity of each individual. The school isnot parochial but does teach and support the universal values of friendliness, cooperation,and social responsibility. The school encourages students and their families to practice such values in the outside world as well and hopes it receives complementary parental
The school’s directors oversee the academic and emotional health of the school. Viewingchildren as this world’s most precious resource, it is of utmost concern to them that eachstudent is comfortable and successful while at Edlin School. The directors alsocontinually review the curriculum, and changes to it are made only with their approval.
