Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"We believe that early childhood experiences provide the foundation for a child's lifetime. Therefore, CBI Preschool provides direct and concrete play experiences that promote the social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual growth and development of each child.
The preschool program strives to:
foster a positive self-concept
develop social skills (being kind to others, sharing, taking turns, teamwork)
encourage the development of cognitive skills (thinking, reasoning, questioning, and experimenting)
encourage language and literacy development
encourage a sense of wonder, including the awareness of God in day to day life (recitation of the shechechiyanu prayer, exploration of the natural world)
encourage sound health and safety habits
enhance physical development and skills
encourage creative expression
develop an appreciation and knowledge of Jewish customs, traditions, and values "

A Typical Day

"Teachers allow time for individual and small group learning (such as blocks, manipulatives, books, dramatic play, art, and science) as well as whole class activities (such as circle time, music, stories, and movement). A balance of indoor and outdoor activities as well as of active and calm, quiet activities is planned each day."
