School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

All activities, whether it be play or learning are led by both teacher and assistant.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Our teachers work with each child based upon individual learning levels. Different activities may be given to children who can become bored easily if a project may be "too simply" or they need something a little more challenging. We also work with Child Find and the parents if we have a child who may need a little extra help with speech, general behavior skills, etc. No child is ever made to feel the he/she is any different from any others in our classes regardless of learning capabilities.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Grace School for Little People of Grace Church is a self-supporting, non-profit organization under the auspices of the church. Its purpose is to provide a Christian preschool for the neighborhood and community. It has been established to provide a Christian atmosphere and environment for the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual development of each child.

In this early experience away from the home environment, the staff hopes to establish in the classroom a loving, caring, accepting place where each child can feel their worth as an individual.

The staff hopes to create an atmosphere of Christian love that will permeate the activities of the school and be a daily witness to the children of the love of God. Bible stories and weekly chapel services support the spiritual guidance.

A Typical Day

Each class has plenty of time set aside each day for interactive play and socialization. Although time schedules may vary from class to class, each will also have storytime, arts and crafts, letter recognition, reading activities, music and movement, and other learning centers based on age appropriateness. Students bring their own lunch to school each day and time is set aside for eating together.Weather permitting, all classes enjoy some time outdoors each afternoon.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
