Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

"The accredited Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum, launched in 2001 and built upon the original school model, blends the two leading philosophies of teaching young children⿿the child-initiated approach and the teacher-directed approach⿿and balances this with character development and play."

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Are students are broken into several different Assessment groups for phonics and math. This allows us to work in small groups, tailoring our program to the levels needed by each group.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

between learning and nurturing; self-discovery and guided exploration

between your family and your childâ¿¿s teachers; classroom learning and experience learning

that leads your child toward lifelong achievement"

A Typical Day

Children are typically dropped off before 8:30 AM, when our classes start. Prior to that time they are engaged in Early Morning Activities (Center Based). At 8:30 class begins with Circle Time following our Balanced Learning Curriculum. The students move through the day learning through fun. The classes are taught at advanced levels. There are many special projects, character development programs, and helping hands events in addition to our advanced Phonics & Math programs. Music, Reading, Writing, Art, Science, Cooking, Technology, Physical Fitness and more are taught throughout the day. The children have a nutritious lunch, and then it's time for Quiet Time. In the afternoon we shift into Enrichment Activities (Center Based). The children are actively engaged their entire time at school. Our curriculum implementation and quality of childcare are of utmost importance to us.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Parents get information daily from classes. Children have daily folders to check for projects/work done throughout the day. Parent teacher conferences are held throughout the year, and can be scheduled outside of our normal conference times. Assessments are done continually and are shared with the parents. Parents are encouraged to work directly with the teachers, as long as the classes are not disrupted. Outside of that, conferences should be requested at the front desk. Any issues should be raised to our management team.

Parents Say They are Encouraged to:

  • Hold social events at the school to build community
  • Fundraise
  • Are able to visit the school anytime we want
  • Volunteer in the classroom
  • Receive newsletters

Modes of Communication

  • Notes
  • Phone Calls
  • Email
  • Special Meetings
  • Two or More Regular Conferences
  • Drop-Off
  • Pick-Up
  • Regular newsletter/printed updates circulated to the whole school

Handling Separation: From the Director

We encourage our parents to visit our school in advance of the child's start date to help build up positive energy about coming to school. This helps the parents as well as the children. They are welcome to visit/observe as many times as needed, though we do request appointments be made. Our management team is very involved in helping children into class. Parents are welcome to call during the day to check on how their children are doing. The management team is continually in and out of classrooms monitoring, providing teacher assistance, giving breaks, checking on children, etc.
