Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

There is a very good balance between play-based learning and teacher led-instruction. We believe that much learning can occur from play when the teacher plans centers around the theme. students are encouraged to try all centers but not required.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Teachers are compassionate and insightful. If students are ready or not ready for higher learning teachers can and will adapt learning.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The Weedkday Early Education Program is an extension of ministry to families by the Schertz First Baptist Church. To effectively work toward the common purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission, we commit to the following goals: to provide a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment that encourages each child to develop mentally, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally and to provide a ministry to families and a witness of Christ and His church.

Our goal is to provide a positive first school experience. We want all our children to be successful. We believe in working on the important basics for any education program such as listening, following directions, sharing, sitting for appropriate times at circle, using words to express themselves, and learning social skills to make friends and have successful play experiences.

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

Handling Separation: From the Director

We ask that the parent bring the child to school give him/her a reassuring hug and say that you love him/her and will return when school is over and then leave the child and go home. If the child cannot adapt, we will call the parent to return.

we provide a stop & drop by day where children can meet the teacher, play in the classroom, and have one-on-one interaction with the teacher.
