Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

Each of our classroom environments has a schedule that allows for both independent play and structured learning. Emerson strives to keep children engaged and growing through our theme-based activities that focus on social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development for each child.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Emerson Academy's philosophy is to provide individualized early education for ALL children, and our program supports this. We have very low ratios which allow for more personalized attention and care. Because we are an inclusive center, our curriculum is necessarily adaptable for children of varying abilities. Our teachers work with the family and the child on individual goals for growth, and the child's progress is monitored and discussed with parents regularly through meetings, notes, and our quarterly parent-teacher conferences.

Emerson Academy communicates with the parents via email, notes and letters, direct conversations, and through our school Blog, which is updated several times per week.
