Day in the Life

General School Mission

Willow Bend Learning Center offers a unique and exceptional educational program that introduces academics through fun activities that not only invigorate the mind of a child but also boost independence and confidence.

We challenge our children with a curriculum that captures their imagination, and a learning environment where they can make discoveries, solve problems, and think independently. We believe that no one method of instruction is all comprehensive, we have drawn from several traditional and progressive approaches like Montessori, Whole Languages, and Frog Street Press Phonics, and developed a well rounded curriculum that encourages the social, academic and emotional growth of the child.

A Typical Day

Our daily schedule consists of an activity packed day for the children. A typical day will consist of a morning academic session which comprises of Morning Circle Time including Montessori lessons and Sign Language, Language Arts activities, Math and Manipulatives, Fine and Large Motor Skills, Outdoor Play, an Indoor Dramatic Play in the Willow Bend Village, followed by lunch and a rest period.

The afternoon academic session comprises of Afternoon Circle Time including Flannel Stories, Nursery Rhymes, and Spanish, Art and Sensory, Science, Social Studies, Geography, Show and Tell, Outdoor Play, Music and Movement.

In addition, the Preschool and Pre-K classes have a Special Activity Program, which includes activities like Field Trips, TotYoga, TotOrigami, Outdoor Learning, Willowberetum (gardening), Computer Lab, Cotillion and Ballroom Dancing.
Apart from Language Arts, three additional Languages taught include French. Spanish and Sign Language.

Monthly class parties encourage the children to prepare songs and crafts for their families. This is also a great opportunity for parents to mingle with the teachers and other families.
