Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

We know that children learn best through play and that children are all unique and learn at different rates. Our early childhood staff provides a loving family-like setting that teaches respect, cooperation, self-confidence, and independence.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We evaluate all children on an individual basis so that we may provide them with ideal opportunities to learn and grow. We conference with our parents 3 times per year to keep them updated on their child's progress.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"The purpose of TPP is to help children grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually in God's world, and to enhance their belief in God's great love for them. We believe that children learn best in a loving, caring Christian environment where they may experience the awe and wonder of God's world through hands-on developmentally appropriate play.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We communicate with our parents through newsletters, parent conferences, and our communication folders set up for each child at our preschool. Our parents all receive a parent handbook when school begins outlining all of our policies and procedures along with a parent orientation meeting to discuss the handbook.

Parents Say They are Encouraged to:

  • Hold social events at the school to build community
  • Fundraise
  • Are able to visit the school anytime we want
  • Volunteer in the classroom
  • Receive newsletters

Modes of Communication

  • Notes
  • Phone Calls
  • Email
  • Two or More Regular Conferences
  • Drop-Off
  • Pick-Up
  • Regular newsletter/printed updates circulated to the whole school

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation

Handling Separation: From the Director

We work closely with families to help the transition to preschool be a positive one. If a child is having a particularly difficult time & it continues we will make suggestions to the parents that we feel will help them adjust to the day a little better. It is very important to us that every child have a positive preschool experience. We want to help children develop a love for learning that they can take with them as they enter public school.
