Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Reggio-Emilia

From the Director:

The curriculum, called The Empowered Child, provides the three components of quality early childhood education: developmentally appropriate activities, a wondrous classroom environment, and quality teacher-child interactions.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

It is important for children to learn through play. Brain research has shown that children make deeper connections in comfortable calming, home-like environments, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. We know that children feel safe here with our experienced, mature staff and that the woods surrounding our center help to bring in the natural lighting and wonders around us. Children in this environment are able to focus and learn at their own pace.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

At Childtime, we believe that children are talented, capable people who construct their knowledge through investigation and exploration story and play; are born with a sense of wonder and a natural curiosity about the world around them; need to express their feelings, ideas and experiences in many different ways.

A Typical Day

We create environments that are developmentally appropriate for each child. We provide opportunities for every child to grow physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Every classroom reflects specially designed learning area for every age and stage of development.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Milestone Moments are done on children monthly as a means to track their development. Parents are able to get immediate messages as they check their child in or out throug individual or class emails. Parent newsletters are sent out once a month with calendars of events and important happenings in the classrooms.

Separation

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions

Handling Separation: From the Director

Our skilled, mature staff are experts at handling separation. I believe that this skill is something that comes with time and experience.
