"Pre-K Curriculum Overview * Bible Stories * Super Heroes of the Bible * Language Open Court - 3’s – Letter recognition - 4’s and K5 – Letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and reading readiness * Math - 3’s – Numbers 1-10, shape recognition, and colors - 4’s – Saxon Math – sorting, patterning, and sequencing with manipulatives - K5 – Addition, subtraction, money and time * “Work” centers and “Play” centers * Computer science incorporated into centers * Manipulatives (hands-on activities to develop fine motor skills) * Life Skills Concepts (setting tables, tying shoes, following rules, pouring, etc.) * Manners * Social Skills * Language * Development * Literature at story time, drama, and calendars * Music * Fingerplays * Weekly Thematic Units linked with the Seasons and Language Arts * Chapel, Music, Spanish, Library The young child learns quickly because of the absorbent mind quality that defines these early years. The child literally absorbs all that he/she hears, sees and experiences. The environment becomes a teaching tool that has a profound influence on the young child.
