Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

From the Director:

"Judaic Orientation. The Judaic component of our school is all-encompassing. The school has a value system built upon the tenets of Judaism as practiced at Temple Emanu-El, a Reform Jewish institution. Shabbat, religious holidays, concepts of God, Torah, nature, love and concern for each other are all observed. Our general theme is 'To See the World Through Jewish Eyes.' Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Laughter, joy, songs, learning through play and discovery are some of the sights and sounds of Temple Emanu-El Pre School. This is a special place for children to experience an environment filled with activities that facilitate learning through play. Active play provides children with opportunities to investigate what interests them-to solve problems, establish relationships, and gain independence.

"Children learn about Jewish holidays and traditions through hands on activities. Parents and children celebrate Shabbat each week with songs, prayers, stories and blessings. We are creating Jewish memories for children to take with them for the rest of their lives.

"Temple Emanu-El Pre-School encourages the developmental growth of children incorporating the tenets of Reform Judaism.

"The educational philosophy of the Temple Emanu-El Pre-School is based on meeting the developmental needs of children. The programs are designed to meet each child's emotional, social, cognitive and physical needs"

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

"Parents are encouraged to participate as room parents, storytime readers, and help plan special events and fund raisers throughout the year.

"The Pre-School Parents Association has been organized to serve as a forum for gathering ideas, allowing parents to form friendships, and to work within an organization towards our continued success. Under the Parents, Association umbrella, we have formed parent committees to work with the Director and teachers throughout the year."
