Normal preschool skills are taught, including socialization, fine and gross motor skills development, as well as mathematics and literary concepts, only they’re all taught in Spanish. Previous exposure to Spanish is not required to enter the program.

Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Teacher-Led

From the Director:

Our teachers and teacher assistants model the Spanish language in an effort to improve students' listening comprehension and speaking skills. Students are engaged in structured activities that maximize their time for language instruction. We utilize stories, songs, dances and art projects to develop students' second-language acquisition.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Due to our low teacher/student ration, we are able to provide individualized instruction for all students.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Successful learning occurs through authentic, enjoyable experiences. We believe that instruction of a second language must be delivered with passion and a genuine love for the language. Children must be permitted to learn through games and activities that require total physical response. We are committed to meeting children’s individual needs and ensuring that they leave Spanish House with the ability to comprehend and speak Spanish, as well as a cultural awareness that will have lasting benefits throughout their childhoods.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Parents are in close contact with teachers and the director of the school. We issue progress reports each six weeks and hold parent/teacher conferences twice a year. Parents receive a newsletter every six weeks with the curriculum and tips to help their children at home.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

Handling Separation: From the Director

We encourage parents to bring their children to visit the school before they begin classes. We also believe that children adapt far more quickly in the classroom when they are actively engaged in fun, dynamic activities.
