Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

We do have learning times with teachers helping to teach in small groups, or one on one, depending on the skill being taught. Small motor skills are taught through these times, as well as listening and following directions. These skills are also learned through table activities set up and monitored by teachers.

We encourage the children in all these skills. We do have a library story time/ music teacher that shares books and music that follows a monthly topic which teachers follow as well.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The overall philosophy and mission of our Mother's Day Out is to share and teach children a basic introductory learning curriculum of pre-school readiness and peer learning in a loving, Christian atmosphere of comfort and security.

A Typical Day

Greeted by 2 loving teachers and then allowed a free-play time until the morning activities begin. Depending on the age of the child, physical needs are met as well as a snack time prior to a playtime either on our playground or in our full gymnasium. After returning to their room, they wash hands and say a group blessing time/prayer time. Rest time after lunch, length depending on age; then free play until parent pick-up time.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Our teachers communicate daily to parents any concerns or praises about the children. If parents tell us any concerns they may have, we do make these concerns known to teachers and watch for changes to occur. We do share with parents continuing education programs in our area, if they are not aware. Our program is only basic introductory learning through play, music, and art activities.

Parents Say They are Encouraged to:

  • Are able to visit the school anytime we want

Modes of Communication

  • Notes
  • Phone Calls
  • Voice Mail
  • Drop-Off
  • Pick-Up

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation

Handling Separation: From the Director

We hold, love, and talk with the child. Read, play with objects like dolls, blocks, books, etc. Share with child that parent will be back soon. We have a lot of nannies and grandparents that bring children as well.
