General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

The teachers prepare weekly lessons plans and use the Exceed curriculum for the 3's and 4's. The Infants, toddlers, and two's use the Wee Learn curriculum.

Every child has differences in their learning styles and we teach each child according to their indiviual needs.

General School Mission

"The Lake Highlands Presbyterian Child Development Center is a non profit organization. Our purpose is to provide a fun, loving, safe, Christian environment. We also strive to be a place where children can discover and explore the world outside their own families, thereby adding to their development as a whole."

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

There is a Fall Open House and a Spring Open House. There are parent participation letters sent home monthly with in the childs homework folder to let the parent know what they can be doing at home to enhance what the child is being taught at school.
Parents receive Directors Blasts by email. The Blasts contain updated information on the school and events of the school.
The school has a facebook page- Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church Child Development Center. The school updates Facebook with information on daily events.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Parents in classroom early on

Handling Separation: From the Director

If needed there is a teachers aide that will stay with the child in their classroom to give the child extra attention. The aide gives the child the assurance that they are going to be ok and that the parent will be returning soon.
